NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said the alliance will boost Ukraine’s army and secure US and European commitments to deter Russia.

Rutte visited Kyiv and said NATO’s support for Ukraine “remains unwavering” and continues to grow. He confirmed plans to fund a steady flow of lethal US weapons. After a White House meeting, Rutte said Donald Trump promised US involvement in Ukraine’s security guarantees.

Rutte explained the two-layer plan aims to make Putin avoid future attacks. He confirmed discussions about deploying foreign troops are ongoing but outcomes remain undecided.

    Zelenskyy Calls for Reliable Guarantees

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukraine needs security guarantees to protect current and future generations from Russian aggression. He stressed guarantees must include troop, intelligence, air, and naval support. Zelenskyy said Ukraine will fully cooperate with NATO and partner nations to implement effective protections.

    Kremlin Blocks Zelenskyy-Putin Summit

Donald Trump proposed a summit between Zelenskyy and Putin, but Moscow rejected the plan. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said the summit agenda is “not ready at all.”

Zelenskyy said Russia is actively preventing talks. “Ukraine is ready to meet and work productively,” he stated. He urged partners to enforce strong sanctions to pressure Moscow into diplomacy and secure a genuine peace process.
