Under the leadership of Garrick Ohlsson, the jury for the 19th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition has selected 11 pianists to advance to the finals. Poland’s Piotr Alexewicz stands as the nation’s last representative in the world-renowned contest.

The announcement revealed the complete list of finalists, confirming Alexewicz as the sole Polish contender still in the running.

Founded in 1927, this historic event remains one of the most distinguished piano competitions in existence. Dedicated entirely to Fryderyk Chopin’s compositions, it continues to uphold nearly a century of musical tradition and excellence.

Finalists Prepare to Perform Chopin’s Masterpieces

The jury named the remaining competitors: Kevin Chen (Canada), David Khrikuli (Georgia), Shiori Kuwahara (Japan), Tianyou Li (China), Eric Lu (United States), Tianyao Lyu (China), Vincent Ong (Malaysia), Miyu Shindo (Japan), Zitong Wang (China), and William Yang (United States).

Each pianist will perform Polonaise-Fantaisie, Op. 61, followed by one of Chopin’s piano concertos — either E minor, Op. 11, or F minor, Op. 21. The National Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Andrzej Boreyka, will accompany the performances.

The final recitals will be held between October 18 and 20, with evening sessions starting at 6 p.m. in Warsaw.

Winner to Earn Prestigious Prize and Global Recognition

The eventual champion will receive €60,000 and a gold medal, solidifying their place among the world’s greatest interpreters of Chopin’s work.

For the finalists, this stage offers more than victory — it offers the chance to shape their musical legacy. As anticipation rises across the global classical community, Warsaw prepares to host another defining moment in the history of piano performance.
