Archaeologists Confirm Massive Man-Made Pit Circle Near Stonehenge

Archaeologists say they have confirmed that a huge circle of deep pits near Stonehenge was carved by humans more than 4,000 years ago. Known as the Durrington pit circle, the structure consists of about 20 विशाल pits, some up to 10 metres wide and 5 metres deep, stretching over more than a mile.

Using advanced techniques such as ground-penetrating radar, electrical resistance testing, soil dating and environmental DNA analysis, researchers found repeating soil patterns that could not have formed naturally. They now believe the pits were deliberately dug in the late Neolithic period.

While the exact purpose remains unknown, the team suggest the monument may have been linked to ancient beliefs about the underworld, describing it as one of the most extraordinary prehistoric structures ever found in Britain.
