Tottenham defender Destiny Udogie has been revealed as the Premier League footballer allegedly threatened at gunpoint by an agent in north London.
The incident reportedly took place on 6 September in Cockfosters, Barnet, while Udogie was out with a friend during the international break. Police arrested a 31-year-old man two days later on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent, blackmail, and driving without a licence. He has since been released on bail while investigations continue.
According to the Metropolitan Police, no one was injured. It is understood that the suspect is not Udogie’s agent.
Tottenham said in a statement: “We have been providing support for Destiny and his family since the incident and will continue to do so. Given this is a legal matter, we cannot comment further.”
Udogie, 21, returned to action a week later in Spurs’ win over West Ham and started Tuesday’s Champions League match against Copenhagen.
